Rapper 50 Cent has sued an internet advertising firm for $1m (£486,000) for an online promotion which allegedly shows him being shot.

In court papers filed in New York, the star claims viewers are encouraged to target him, with a successful shot resulting in a cloud of red.

His lawyer Peter Raymond said the advert does not use 50 Cent’s name, but “the character is intended to be him”.

50 Cent has pinpointed why fellow rapper Nas isn’t “hot right now” - it’s because he’s too smart.

The hip-hop star says Nas is weird because he likes reading books, and his intellectual approach has cost him the many fans his celebrated debut album ‘Illmatic’ garnered him with.

Cent explains to Xxl magazine, “Nas is a really smart guy. He reads books constantly. We were around him on the Nastradamus tour. He was almost weirder than me ’cause we would go to breakfast and he’d be there reading a book.

“Conceptually, I think that’s what made him drift away from what his initial audience enjoys from him and why he’s not hot right now.”

Rap rivals Kanye West and 50 Cent will go head to head on September 11th when their albums are released simultaneously.

Last month, West decided to release his third album Graduation early, on August 21st, to avoid a sales war with 50 Cent’s new disc Curtis.

After originally planning to release Curtis in June, 50 Cent delayed the album until September 4th, then last week it was postponed again until September 11th.

And now West has decided to release Graduation on the same day, according to a representative from his record label Def Jam.
